Today we used the story of
Tanglebird, a bird who gets tangled a lot, as our inspiration for art-making. While looking at the pictures, we reviewed different lines and patterns. We also practiced using our words to describe what we saw versus pointing or touching the picture; an important skill to have when visiting art museums.
To make their own tangled nests, they decorated a pre-cut semi-circle with tissue paper. Then they cut slits into the sides so that the yarn could be strung tightly. Carefully they wrapped multi-colored string around their nests, pulling it into the slits to ensure everything stays snug. They added beads for extra tangled-ness.
