caterpillar food

The kindergarteners learned about geometric and organic shapes. Geometric shapes are precise and usually made with a ruler or stencil. Organic shapes are usually curved and drawn by hand. When they made their caterpillars, they used a circle template to draw circles, therefore they are made up of geometric shapes. The baskets and caterpillar food were drawn by hand and thus organic shapes. They practiced drawing and recognizing the two types on Penelope.
The students finished their food baskets! Inspired by Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, they made apples. pears, plums, oranges, and strawberries. They also included in the basket their own favorite food.

Don't these food baskets look yummy?
