Kandinsky inspired color experiments

The first graders looked to Vassily Kandinsky's "Color Studies: Squares and Concentric Circles" as inspiration for their Original Works. In each square is a different color combination. All of them convey different emotions and feelings. Yet together, they work like an orchestra of instruments to create a composition.

First they used oil pastel to draw a dot in the middle of their paper. Then they used various colors to repeat a single shape which radiates from the center, leaving enough negative space in between the lines for paint. After they filled their paper with oil pastel lines, they painted inside each shape with watercolors. They noticed how different colors looked next to one another.
