snow friends in actions

The third graders learned how to draw snow friends at an angle and in action! They understand how to draw people from the front but things change once the body turns. Proportions change and parts wrap around the body. Rather than drawing people (which can be intimidating) they drew snow friends and focused on angling the arms, feet, face, and buttons.

First they drew their pictures with pencil and traced them with glue. After the glue hardened, it acted as a resist to the oil pastel. Carefully, the students filled in the black paper with lots of color to create wondering winter action scenes.
